This 500g bronze beauty. I knew exactly how I wanted it to look but a trip down to Nashville and left sitting in a hot car 18 hours would reveal something totally unexpected. The many layers of atomized bronze cured in a hot car and cracked. Initially, when I unrolled it, I was horrified because all the time and much money put into it. Then, quickly that horrified feeling turned to adoration for the unexpected which became the blueprint of how I work.
I'm always pursuing the simplification of my life as a whole. Stressing out about how certain pieces turn out is a waste of energy, instead I try not hold any idea how the end result will be when starting on a backdrop. I just let it do its thing. This creates a much more sustaining and enjoyable practice, for myself.
